Progressive Development” is based on the lessons, of successes as well as of failures, learnt from various projects in which the author was involved from the dry provinces of South Korea, Iran, Nepal, Brazil, Columbia, Venezuela, Kenya, Republic of South Africa and others. The principle aim of Progressive Development is to gradually change the natural and human environments, in order to enable survival against the deterioration of climatic conditions, and strive to guarantee progress towards safer and higher standards of life.

This being said, the reader should not get the impression that a project is under way to re-savannize the Sahara and thus sequester all the atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by power stations, cars and industry and stop the greenhouse effect altogether. The reason being that on top of the agricultural and technical feasibility, such a project has to prove itself economically feasible which needs further investigation.
